Neurospicy notes from the road

About

Who’s writing this

Hi! I’m Dove, the feet in the logo 🙂

I’m spending the next couple of years exploring, researching, and finding where I’d like to relocate to, one Mexican town at a time. This isn’t a vacation or an Eat, Pray, Love journey of self-discovery – just a middle-aged, neuro-complex woman finding somewhere that fits, done deliberately and written down as I go.

This site started as a way to keep my friends and family updated without repeating myself nine times. It’s still mostly that. But if you’re weighing the same move, the Cities page may be useful – it’s my real notes, including the towns that didn’t work out.

The shape of it

Diving, music, and a great many other things

Underwater is where I’d spend most of my time given the choice – it’s a lot of why the first round is all coast. On land there’s a ukulele, and a running list of things I’ve decided to be interested in that is frankly out of hand. Building a life around diving, making music, and going to look at things is the whole plan.

So if the posts wander – a reef one week, a lutherie rabbit hole the next, then eleven hundred words on the price of yogurt followed by a thesis on Dabrowski’s Theory of Positive Disintegration – that’s not a lack of focus. It’s a feature.

How I plan this

I’ve used a few tools to help me plan my travels, and would rather be upfront about it than have you assume I worked it all out alone (that would have been impossible for me – the AuDHD is strong with this one). The first is the Mexico Relocation Guide – their videos and city write-ups did a lot of the work of narrowing this route down from “somewhere in Mexico” to 20+ specific towns, and they’re where I go for anything involving visas, paperwork, or the parts of moving that get expensive when you get them wrong.

The second is AI, Claude specifically. I use it to think out loud, ask questions, argue with my own plans, build the comparison framework on the Cities page, and finish drafts I’d otherwise abandon at paragraph two. Oh, and it helped me build this website, because this is way out of my wheelhouse. It has never been to any of these towns and doesn’t know what one smells like at 3pm on a Thursday – that part’s all me. But pretending otherwise would be an odd thing to lie about.

Come along for the ride!

New notes land roughly as I finish them. No promises.
